We had a great time back at the Mint last night. It really is one of LA's best venues. We wanted to say a quick thanks to Angela and Will from 387 Entertaiment. These guys are really putting together great nights of music. We highly recommend attending their events. They are really making a great effort at booking cohesive lineups of bands that all play well, all have great singers, and are in a similar genre. We really enjoyed tonight's show!

The tour is coming together very nicely with shows added in Manchester, Liverpool, and Leicester. The next big news is that the tour is possibly going to be the subject of a documentary film. A writer & alumnist of The New York Film academy has teamed up with a cinematographer that is currently working in Moscow and we are very flattered that the duo has expressed interest in making a documentary about the life of ALSO on tour in Europe. More news to come about the film...
In other news ALSO was featured today on the T-Shirt-A-Day Blog. A Scottish lad named named Jason Shand decided to wear a different t-shirt every day and write a blog about it. Check it out! ALSO is featured on March 6th, day 22. - Rad! ALSO |

Many things have been happening as of late as far as the ALSO folks are concerned. We have been keeping pretty busy playing live. I'll be quick but there are a couple of things that are very news-worthy as of the last few days.
Number One: I just posted a new video of ALSO on our audio/video page, or you can View it on Youtube. The video is basically an intro to the band. It features interview footage, some music, and live footage from the US and overseas. We have tons of video from our tours etc. but this is the first real peek into it on the site. Check it out. Secondly: We played a show in the good ol' San Fernando Valley last week at Studio Suite and they liked us so much that we have been invited back for a bi-weekly residency for a while. So look for us locally in LA every other week in October/November. See the show page for show dates and times. P.S. Thanks to Johnny Shallow for the help on the video, and additionally for generally rocking in every which way! - Swwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeet! ALSO |

It was quite a busy week for ALSO last week and we had a lot of fun. All four shows went well. I wanted to send a thanks out to the guys at the Prospector in Long Beach (Reid, Wade, and Zach) for having us down and for hanging out a bit. Incidentally, Reid plays in a band called Free Moral Agents, and they'll be playing the Troubadour on Tuesday for all you LA folks out there. On another note, the Verity Room is growing on us a great deal. Elizabeth and Kevin have really put together a great venue out in Canoga Park. It is definitely worth checking out as well. It is a great all ages venue with some cool artwork and a really relaxed atmosphere.
I guess that's it for now. Thanks to everyone who came out to the shows last week, thanks to the ALSO van for making it to all the shows, and thanks to Don Cuco's for perfecting the margarita! Enjoy the last day of your long weekend! - Sweet! ALSO |

News 03-20-07
So we've put a good 3,000 miles on the van in the last couple weeks and it has been fantastic. The trip this past weekend to Roseville and San Francisco was a blast and we met some great folks. It was also quite a welcome surprise to see some of our great friends unexpectedly! But to say the least, our busy month of March has gone by without much of a hitch. (However, we would like to cordially thank the Los Angeles Police for the welcome-home traffic violation we got on quite an honest mistake...)
Roseville was a good time and the Owl Club had some in-house-brewed nut brown ale that was delicious. St. Patrick's day in Roseville was a bit rowdy! The night was a lot of fun. Grant & Green Saloon in San Francisco is a hip little rock club in North Beach and we enjoyed sharing the show with Aristeia from Portland. Though it was Irish hangover day (a.k.a. the night after St. Patrick's Day), everyone who came out enjoyed a few drinks and some great music. Lastly, we played La Conga in San Pedro just South of LA this evening. The club is a great place to play. The have a huge stage, great sound, and good folks running it. We hope to be back there soon. We have a show this coming Sunday at Hotel Cafe. I always say it, but this really is one of our favorites. The sound there is always fantastic and you can always count on hearing great acts. It is an early show on Sunday evening at 7. We'd love to see you there. -Snap! ALSO |

KRUX fest was quite cool and though the rain put a bit of a damper on the show we had a great time playing the massive outdoor stage and meeting everyone out in New Mexico. The radio interview was a lot of fun and if you did not catch it I had to improvise with some interesting percussion choices. The interview is archived on the press & radio page if you want to check it out.
We were welcomed back in Phoenix for two shows at the Casablanca. This is a great new venue in the area and I recommend it very highly as both a place to check out and as a place for bands to play. Thanks again to Toby & Brad. Check out Names of the Innocent if you are in Phoenix as well. The show at Universal Bar & grill was a good night out too. A lot of great friends showed up and everyone had some good food and a few drinks. We are off to Sacramento this evening to play a St. Patrick's day rock show (in Roseville), Grant & Green Saloon in San Francisco on Sunday, then to San Pedro outside of LA on Monday. -Cheers Scotland & ALSO |

We are excited to be heading west for a bit and we will be stopping back at Casablanca in Phoenix on the trip as well. ALSO is finally ending its brief hiatus from our busy show schedule and we are gearing up to play a lot more shows in the coming months. There has been a great deal going on in other news.
For those of you asking for an LA show we will be playing back at one of our favorites, the Hotel Cafe, on March 25th. We want to thank the over 200 stations all across the country and in Canada that have been supporting the new album (and the EP as well). It is great to know that so many folks are digging the cd. That being said; we are very anxious to get out in front of audiences in as many of the cities which are showing us support as we possibly can. Our fans overseas have been asking us to come play in all of their respective countries as well. So we are going to have some serious crunch time to figure out when and where to play. Sorry for the lack of news. There is a lot going on for ALSO at the moment so it has been tough to get to the site.
Here is a bit of what is happening in the world of ALSO... We just got rough mixes of seven new tracks that we recorded in Santa Monica this month. Look for her in TIME magazine and on American Express gift cards very soon. With the addition of Paris, the European tour plans in March & April are almost all solidified with date & time confirmations awaiting from only a few places. Happy New Year Everyone! We are fired up about 2006 as it is looking to be quite eventful for us. In response, we will be heading back to 4th Street to record again during the next few weeks and will attempt to deliver a full length album in early 2006 as originally planned. News 11-29-2005
There is much news to tell this evening. Some is great & some is unfortunate.
To start: the first of the great news is that plans are solidifying for an ALSO tour in Europe in March & April 2006! The first of the bookings are already posted on the shows page. We'll keep posting them as the dates approach. Next: We are still getting played on XM radio and we greatly appreciate the requests. They are helping quite a bit. Keep em' coming if you can... just email unsigned@xmradio.com In other good news the events that Scotland conjured up to promote indie bands in LA are getting some great feedback. The first show in the second round of IOU nights, which stands for Indie Original Unsigned, is coming up this Sunday (December 4th). If things continue to go well the plan is to further expand the event in January. The shows have been great and there have been overwhelming amounts of submissions from bands interested in playing the event. The bands we picked are truly top notch. Check out the IOU site for more info on the other participants. Lastly, I promised word on our August 2005 recordings which have been in limbo. Unfortunately, in what seems to be a freak coincidence, we had both a primary and a backup hard drive fail permanently and we will not be able to recover the songs. Though we looked into emergency drive recovery firms, the cost is far less economical for us than re-recording would be. What this spells for a full-length release date from ALSO is uncertain as of yet but we still have plans in the works for a full length asap. Sorry for the delay -Scotland & ALSO |

Sorry for the lapse in news after we promised updates on our new album's progress. We have unfortunately been unable to work on our new tracks because both an original and a backup hard drive have failed on us. We are in the process of getting them recovered (which is a whole ordeal in and of itself).
What are the odds that both would go down? Anyways, we are confident that all is not lost but being as anxious as we are to get working it has been a long couple of weeks. We'll post some news as soon as we know more. -Scotland & ALSO |

The set was quite early but the place stayed packed the whole night as we were opening for a great bill featuring Jay Nash, Pedestrian, & Jimmy Gnecco.
The follwing night we went up to one of favorite spots to play, Kava Dume, which is the new name and face for Virtual World Cafe in Agoura Hills. It was good to see our friends in Agoura again and we had some great coffee and played a good show. On Saturday we made the drive up to San Francisco to share a bill with our friends The Mandarins at the Li Po Lounge. This is a long standing establishment in San Francisco's China Town named after one of China's greatest poets (Li Po - 701-762 A.D.). The venue room is small and dirty but this place has a ton of character. In addition to the Mandarins we shared the bill with Midnight in a Perfect World. They are definitely worth checking out as well. cheers -Scotland & ALSO |

Now that the site is okay I have a couple ALSO shows to update you on.
Last night we played at M Bar in LA. It is a beautiful bar with red curtains, textured wallpaper, and a very classic lounge-like feel. The room is intimate and the sound is great. Joe really has a great spot so go check it out. 1253 N. Vine. (No sign though so look for the address) We played a late night set so thanks to everyone who showed up on a school night. We played our first show in Tempe, AZ on Saturday the 25th at The Last Exit Bar & Grill. The venue is really supportive of working bands. Thanks to Mark's Pittsburgh friends Buzz, Joelle, Chris, Tamara, & Jason for coming out to the show, thanks to Josh & Renata for the hospitality, and a special thanks to whoever invented air conditioners. -Scotland & ALSO |

The Dublin Castle: NW London
We arrived in London last night and spent a bit of time in the city today. It is hard to believe this is the last show! We arrived at the Dublin Castle at 6pm for sound check and met up with the other acts. Ken Henningan, The Jolly Company, and The Epitones. A.K., the drummer from the Epitones, was kind enough to let all the full bands use his drums. Everybody was very friendly and we were excited because the sound checks were all good and we knew it would be a good night. The soundman Fuzz really knew his job. I was really impressed with the sound tonight! The Jolly Company played to a packed room and the room stayed busy all night. We had a great last show. Drew was finally feeling almost 100% and he sang excellently and the entire crowd seemed quite glued. I want to say thanks to Nik for her kind words. She told me that "listening to you (ALSO) is like sipping a fine wine." The crowd literally cheered after every song loudly and I think the loudest cheering of the night was when Drew told everyone that we were an independent band touring on our own. It was a great end to a great tour. Thanks to Duncan for taking photos for us and thanks again to the Epitones for letting us use their gear. It is hard to believe that the tour is over. It has been an amazing trip and we have met so many truly great people. I hope that we can manage to do this again very soon. Many thanks to our friends in the U.K., -Scotland & ALSO |

Q-Bar: Edinburgh
We woke up in Glasgow and drove the quick drive over to Edinburgh. WOW is this a stunning city! Centered around an enormous castle sitting upon a rocky cliff the city is full of buildings over 700 years old. It is probably the most aesthetically pleasing city I have ever visited. The first thing we did (amidst just being awestruck by the sights) was head to the Q-Bar to say hello and drop off our equipment. Dennis owns the bar and he was quite a nice guy. Coincidentally Caroline, who had seen our show with Prose in Glasgow, happened to be working there. After touching base with them we walked over to the hostel that housed the Swamp Bar which was the venue our show was originally booked in. The hostel was quite a hip place but so was the Q-bar so the venue change was no big deal. We went back to Q for sound check and met Taylor. He turned out to be yet another great guy booking shows in the UK. I can't say enough about how well we have been treated here. The show turned out to be a great time. We shared the bill with Alfonso and The Last Band and we played to a packed room. It was quite a good feeling when after we finished the crowd began chanting "U.S.A ...U.S.A." I wanted to say a special thanks to Acky for taking pictures for us during the show. We really enjoyed talking with him. We spent today (Saturday) being very content tourists in Edinburgh. We were invited to have coffee and breakfast at the Elephant Cafe by our friends Jamie from Prose and Caroline (from the Glasgow show and the Q-bar). This hip little cafe near the Royal Mile is now famous due to it's popularity with the writer of Harry potter novels. Most of the books were written in the cafe. A good start to a great day and a much needed day off. We have been working really hard and it was good to stay in one place and not have to get up before check out time. Visit Edinburgh & Glasgow if you ever have the Chance! cheers, -Scotland & ALSO |

Soundhaus: Glasgow
To start about this show all I can say is fantastic! The Soundhaus is one of the coolest music facilities that I have ever visited and ALSO are now 3 proud members. It has the feel of an underground New York City venue. The entrance is a back alley, then a long dark tunnel, then into the main venue which is very industrial with ceilings strewn with parachutes and desert camoflauge. It is an all purpose music facility and bar with practice rooms and an amazing stage for shows. The sound system rivals any venue in LA. Chris, Ian, Neil, & Lynn run the venue and they made us feel very welcome to be in Glasgow (thanks to the owner Bruno as well). What a beautiful city it is and it is amazing to see buildings that are older than the U.S. itself. We shared the bill with 3 bands from Scotland, Kat Buster, Red Sun, & Prose. It was an excellent bill. Totally coincidentally we are playing in Edinburgh tommorrow with Alfonso which includes the brother of Prose's singer. Small World. Glasgow seems to have a very thriving music scene and it is definitely a place that we will make it back to. Thanks so much Chris for having us! cheers, -Scotland & ALSO |

Firefly: Leicester
This was really the first day where I felt like I had a good handle on driving here. So we started off on a great note by not making any wrong turns. We arrived in Leicester early and touched base with the folks at Firefly. It is a relatively new venue in Leicester but it is a stunning building. The bar is nearly all hardwood and full of nice leather couches. We met up with Matt, Kat, and Nik who were at work finishing a garden outside the pub. I had a fun afternoon helping them build a set of doors. The show was a great time and we shared the bill with two other great bands. C Bob & Don's Mobile Barbers were both quite good and Leicester is a great college town. I can't say enough about the folks we have met on this tour. Matt, Kat, & Nik were yet another crew that helped us out and made us feel very welcome. Leicester is definitely worth checking out if you're ever nearby. cheers, -Scotland & ALSO |

The White Hart Hotel: Saxmundham
Mick & Diana in Derby were kind enough to put us up again after playing the Cavern since it was right on the way to Suffolk (Saxmundham). We got up in Derby to another excellent breakfast (Thanks again to Mick & Diana) and then headed off to Suffolk. We couldn't have found a better place to rest for two days. Saxmundham is a beautiful small town near the east coast of England and after two days off and a visit to the sea Drew is feeling a lot better. The White Hart Hotel has a good reputation as a venue in the area and quite a few well-known touring bands make it there to play. We had a great time playing for a local crowd there & we met some great people. It was a low key night but we had quite a good time. Thanks again to Howard, Ruth, Babs, Andrea, Ray, Michelle, Harriet, Rocket, Shark Soup, & Just Called Charlie for hanging out with us. cheers, -Scotland & ALSO |

The Cavern Club: Liverpool
The Cavern is the world famous home of the Beatles. We were very excited to be playing this venue. There is something about the club and its history that I have only ever felt before in New York's CBGB's. It sounds a bit cliche but there is just a vibe there that is great for music. When we pulled in to Liverpool we all immediately liked the town. The architecture is brilliant. It is truly an amazing looking place. The people were very friendly as well. We arrived in the club to check in and then went to our hostel for an hour before sound check. ALSO shared the bill with 3 other bands; 3 Ring Circus, Psycho Slinky, & Bankok. It was a good night of music and there were quite a lot of fans in the room. The talent buyer Steve was great to us and gave us the second to last time slot so we went on at 10:45. The only downside of the show was that Drew has developed a terrible cold and sore throat. The show went well despite that though and everyone had a good time. Luckily the timing of Drew's illness is such that we have two days off for him to rest before our next show (and there is hot tea readily available everywhere in the UK.) Steve also was willing to be our cameraman at the show and he was quite good at it. I am thrilled to say that we will have some great shots of ALSO at the cavern for the site when we get back. cheers, -Scotland & ALSO |

The Horse & Groom: Derby
Last night was one of the best times we have had at a show! The folks in Derby at the Horse & Groom put up quite a promotional effort about us coming to town. So much that when we stopped to get directions outside of town they knew who we were and where we were going. Mick & Diana, the proprietors of the pub, are great people and I would like to especially thank them for their hospitality. We played a rock show to a big crowd and met a lot of great people. We ended up hanging out until 3 or 4 AM with the folks from the show upstairs at Dan's club which is a group for The Brotherhood in Derby. So far the tour is a fantastic time. Looking forward to Liverpool tommorrow evening. cheers, -Scotland & ALSO |

The Grey Horse: Kingston upon Thames (South London)
The first show in the UK went really well last night. The Grey Horse was a great British pub in Kingston Upon Thames (in Southwest London). We played an hour long set and everyone seemed to really enjoy it. I was unaware that Star Wars was an international phenomenon. George Lucas is capable of watering down the number of drinkers everywhere I think. Despite that competition though there was a good crowd of folks and we had a lot of fun. It was an excellent start to the tour. Thanks to Kate, Alex, Kat, & Pete. Those guys showed us around a bit after the gig and we spent some time hanging out at another Kingston pub. Quite a fun night. Another thanks goes to the band that we shared the bill with, Custom Baby. It was a tremendous help that they let us borrow their gear. Marcus from the band also makes custom guitar effects pedals under a company of the same name as the band. So check out custom baby effects pedals if you have the chance. Lastly, driving in London is crazy. cheers, -Scotland & ALSO |

We had a fantastic show at The
Lift Station on Saturday night! Thanks to the Lift & to Herb for sharing
their gig and their loft with us. Their parties are always a blast and those
guys put on a remarkably professional production at the loft. Thanks so
much.
This last weekend turned into quite a reflective one for me. We got together to totally re-vamp all of our press kit and our promotional materials and it made me think quite a bit. Not to be self-indulgent or gloating but it is just really nice to be involved with a group of people who work very hard and who get things accomplished day after day. When I moved to LA 2 years ago I didn't expect to have this much to talk about in such a short time. It has really been a good time. ...and there is still so much more to do. -Scotland |

still awaiting to be shot outdoors so the inclement weather has thrown a wrench
in our direction but we are on schedule to be done in another week. The college
radio campaign has been steadily progressing for the last two weeks as well.
